Research Background

I first got interested in research while doing a DNA extraction experiment from cheek cells. For my bachelor’s degree, I attended Texas Woman’s University where I participated in various research projects seeking to understand unusual DNA structures, impacts on DNA from UV radiation, and the mechanism of carboplatin. During my time as an undergraduate, I participated in a summer internship at UT Southwestern where I studied Wilms tumor. Since that incredible experience I have made it my career goal to study pediatric cancer. I am currently a cancer biology graduate student studying pineoblastoma.

When I’m not in the lab

In my free time, I enjoy spending time with family and friends whether that’s watching our favorite shows on Netflix or playing board games. Some of my favorite shows include Parks & Rec, The Office, and Brooklyn Nine-Nine. I am known by my family and friends for baking delicious treats such as cupcakes, baked Alaska, and apple pie.
